The commission problem, in plain numbers

Say your takeaway does 500 online orders a month at an average of R180 an order. That's R90,000 in turnover. On a delivery marketplace charging a typical 20-30% commission, between R18,000 and R27,000 of that goes to the platform - every month, on margins that are already tight. The marketplaces are good at what they do, and they may still have a place in your mix. But when a regular customer who already knows you orders through an app, you're paying a finder's fee for someone who was already found. Ordering on your own website costs once, and then every order is yours.

What we build

An ordering system built into your own website, designed around how a real kitchen works. Customers order from their phones in a few taps - collection or delivery, or both. Orders land on a kitchen display that queues and throttles itself at peak so the kitchen never drowns. Payment happens online through South African gateways, settled in rand to your account. And because it's your website, the customer data, the reviews, and the repeat business all belong to you.

Collection and delivery flows

Collection windows, delivery zones and fees, or both side by side - configured around how your kitchen and your customers actually work, not forced into someone else's template.

Built for the Friday-night rush

Orders land on a kitchen board that queues and throttles itself at peak. The kitchen sees what to make and when; the front desk stops playing telephone operator.

Your customers stay yours

Every order comes with the customer's details, on your own system. Build repeat business with people who already love your food, instead of renting them back from a platform.

Proof

Eat Out the Box, Cape Town

Their old site was slow, hard to use on a phone, and online ordering was clunky. Today, orders land on a kitchen board that throttles itself at peak, the front desk runs with one person, and the till talks to the website talks to the kitchen - with no per-order commission on any of it.

Questions about online ordering

A new website with ordering built in starts at R30,000 once-off. If your current website works and just needs ordering added, that starts at R9,500. We scope and price before we start - the number we agree is the number you pay.

No. Once the system is live, we take nothing per order. The only per-transaction cost is the payment gateway's standard processing fee, which goes to the gateway, not to us.

Not necessarily. Many of our clients keep a marketplace listing for discovery - new customers who don't know them yet - and move their regulars to ordering directly on their own site, where there's no commission. You choose the mix; the point is that you're no longer dependent on it.

That's exactly what the system is designed for. Orders land on a kitchen board that queues them, and you can throttle incoming orders at peak so the kitchen never takes on more than it can make. Eat Out the Box runs their whole service this way.

You do, or a courier you choose - the system handles delivery zones, fees, and time slots, and works just as well for collection only. We'll set it up around whatever delivery arrangement fits your business.

You do. The website, the ordering system, the domain, the hosting, and every customer record - all in your name from day one.
